I love removable prosthodontics and strongly believe that conventional removable prosthodontics is a valid treatment option for restoring patients with missing teeth, even in the age of dental implants. I am immensely fortunate in having a great dental technician working solely in the practice – Mr Rowan Garstang. He is extremely skilled and responsible for the fantastic aesthetics we are able to achieve with our dentures. Having an on-site dental laboratory, I am able to have complete control over the production of the dentures that we fabricate for our patients and this enables us to provide treatment without compromise. The single motivation for achieving my postgraduate dental qualifications has always been a desire to provide patients with the most predictable treatment and to give them beautiful teeth.

I have been a specialist in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontics and endodontics since 2005. I qualified as a dentist in Sheffield in 1993 and worked in General Dental Practice for 6 years. With the aim of improving my knowledge and clinical skills in prosthodontics, I completed a full time MSc in fixed and removable prosthodontics at University Dental Hospital of Manchester in 2000. During this time, I developed a desire to further my diagnostic and clinical skills and undertook 5 years of full time specialist training in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool University Dental Hospital.

Whilst undergoing my specialist training, I completed a PhD (randomised clinical trial testing 3 denture occlusal schemes), sat the Membership in Restorative Dentistry specialist examination in fixed and removable prosthodontics, the Fellowship in Dental Surgery in Restorative Dentistry and wrote two Cochrane Reviews.

On completion of my specialist training, I worked as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool University Dental Hospital and University Dental Hospital of Manchester full time for 2 years then part time for a further year.

I started providing a specialist referral service in Garstang, Lancashire, UK in 2007. Over this time the support from general dental practitioners has been absolutely fantastic.

I take private referrals for the following cases:

  • Complete dentures (conventional and implant supported)
  • Removable partial dentures (conventional and implant supported)
  • Combined fixed and removable prosthodontics
  • Managing the transition from dentate to partially dentate/edentulous dentitions

Rowan and I have been involved in the design and development of Schottlander’s new range of high-end denture teeth, “Enigmalife”. These are the most life-like denture teeth on the market available today and are a superb development.
